Dragon Quest Champions Gets a Ton of Videos Showing Battle Royale JRPG Mechanics & More

Dragon Quest Champions is a rather peculiar mix between a turn-based JRPG and a battle royale game for iOS and Android, and today Square Enix has released a ton of videos showing exactly that on top of character customization, jobs, and more.

Dragon Quest Champions

Today Square Enix released a large bunch of gameplay videos dedicated to showcasing the features of the mobile game Dragon Quest Champions

The videos start from the beginning, showing how you can create and customize your character, then continue with the gacha that lets you collect powerful weapons, and the equipment screen with which you can gear up for battle.

Then we get to see several videos about the jobs starting with an introductory clip showing how you can switch at any time. Then we see videos about the Warrior, the Priest, the Martial Artist, the Mage , and the Thief.

The following videos showcase the game's mechanics, which basically mixes a turn-based JRPG with a battle royale game. You can even choose where you'll land at the beginning (from a ship instead of the usual aircraft we get in BR games) and you have to avoid getting caught in the tightening circle of miasma.

You're encouraged to intrude in ongoing duels and even attack unsuspecting enemies from behind, as you'd expect in a strange turn-based version of your usual PUBG or Fortnite.

You can check out the first video below and I gathered the rest in this playlist for your perusal

Dragon Quest Champions, which was announced a few weeks ago for iOS and Android, is coming down the line in Japan and a closed beta has started today.

At the moment, there is no information from the western arms of Square Enix on whether it will be localized for North America and Europe. We'll have to wait and see, but the publisher has been rather active in localizing its mobile games as of late.
