Developer CyberConnect2 and publisher Bandai Namco's latest installment in the Dragon Ball franchise, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, received favorable reviews when it released earlier in the year. It managed to crack the 1.5 million milestone within the first week of its release, marking the third best entry the series has ever seen in terms of sales so far. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot fans have been itching for the game's first boss battle episode DLC for a while now, and it is finally here.

In the latest US PlayStation Blog postDragon Ball Z: Kakarot Lead Producer Ryosuke Hara revealed Beerus and Whis will take the center stage in the title's first Boss Battle Episode. The Season Pass grants its owners access to two Boss Battle episodes and an additional scenario, and if you would like to measure how much gameplay content that actually means, Hara compared a Boss Battle episode to "a few Sub Stories combined." On the other hand, a scenario is almost similar to completing one story saga.

Beerus and Whis are inspired from the movie Dragon Ball Z: Battle of the Gods, however, the downloadable content won't feature neither the story of the movie or its setting. The studio carefully crafted a new experience for players to go through. The Boss Battle episode won't be locked for players who still haven't completed the main campaign, so feel free to dive right into it. As for the second episode, Hara confirmed it is well in the works and will share more details when possible.

The main focus of this DLC will be improving strength by following Whis’ training regimen, allowing Goku and Vegeta to awaken a new power and finally challenging the ultimate opponent, Beerus. Players will also be able to fight against a level 250 Beerus from the beginning. Confident players should definitely take on this challenge without undergoing Whis’ training.

Are you prepared to face Beerus and Whis? Did you level up to take them down? Who else from the Dragon Ball universe you would like to see next? Let us know your thoughts and suggestions in the comments section below.
