Dog the Bounty Hunter

Duane "Dog" Chapman has been around for a long time, so it should come as no surprise that we're getting multiple Dog the Bounty Hunter video games based on his name, image, and likeness. They will be developed and marketed by Virtual Interactive Technologies Corp (VRVR). The Dog the Bounty Hunter games will center around the man that has captured over 10,000 fugitives throughout his career over multiple television series.

Mr. Chapman said, “After years of sharing my life on television, I’m thrilled to bring my many stories and experiences to the video gaming environment.” He also commented, “I’m delighted to be working with Virtual Interactive Technologies and their experienced team.”

“Collaborating with Dog and his team to help create unique experiences for our customers is a once in a lifetime opportunity,” stated Jason Garber, CEO of Virtual Interactive Technologies. He went on to say, “Dog’s successful career in reality TV and his widely recognized persona will provide us with exceptional content to build a number of exciting and engaging games.”

Speaking with Virtual Interactive Technologies, they weren't able to confirm what platforms the games would be on, but did tell us that Chapman would be heavily involved in the creation of the games.

Interestingly, bounties have always been kind of a thing in video games. The Metroid series has the main character as a bounty hunter, and in games like Elder Scrolls bounty systems are used to prosecute characters who perform criminal acts in-game.

Quick Take

While this may seem strange at first, it makes sense. Millions of people follow Dog the Bounty Hunter on social media and on TV, and being a bounty hunter is something that sounds pretty interesting in a video game. Will it result in a good video game that Dog's fans want to actually play? Who knows; I guess we'll be finding that out sooner or later.
