Dodge Full Price on NieR: Automata for PC/Steam

Published: March 14, 2017 9:01 PM

With fairly positive reviews among the many critics, NieR: Automata hit the shelves last week for the PS4. While originally announced as a PS4 exclusive, the game is indeed heading to Steam this week, the 17th for the usual $59.99 list price. But wait - hold on to your hats, you don't need to pay that much thanks to an $11 discount available online as of writing.

The retailer you'll need to look at is popular digital retailer GMG. The UK-based, fully authorized Square Enix distributor is offering an 18% price break to $49.29. This is the first and only offer we've spotted thus far from an authorized distributor. It's a solid deal if you enjoy PlantiumGame's previous titles such as the Bayonetta series and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance or if you enjoyed the first NieR.

GMG requires you to be a "VIP member" to get the full discount. This merely means you need to either create an account with them or login to an existing account to see the full discount to $49 for NieR: Automata. A VIP membership is no more a hassle than creating an account on any other retail site.

You will need a fairly good PC to handle NieR: Automata as the game appears to be quite demanding in system requirements. For 720p performance, you'll need a GTX 770 graphics card or higher, while 1080p you're recommended to use a GTX 980 or better. That's quite the requirement, all things considered, so here's hoping the PC port won't run into any issue compared to the PS4 version. The game will also take up a fair amount of hard drive space at 50GB after installation.

Assuming PlantiumGames delivers a solid port and won't botch the game with poor frame rates on PC, we're expecting NieR: Automata to hit similar positive reception as the PS4 version (88/100 score on Metacritic).
