Today, at the end of the DNF Duel finals of the Arc World Tour, Nexon and Arc System Works had news to share about the recently-released fighting game.
This time around, we get to see more of Spectre, the upcoming new character who wields a Nodachi sword called Obsidian and a Kodachi named White Fang. She uses Battojutsu, the art of suddenly drawing her sword and hitting a wide area. Her wire lets her move in 8 directions while airborne. This is only one of the skills she can use when drawing White Fang. Her Ghost Fastener tool lets her gain a special effect.
We also get a roadmap for the season pass which will start with Spectre in summer 2023 alongside a new Awakening System and balance adjustments. The Cube Selection will allow players to select between two awakening effects, which you can see explained in the slides below. There's another new system coming but it has not been revealed today.
A second character is coming in the fall, a new character and a new stage in the winter, and two new characters in 2024. Balance updates will follow the same cadence.
Incidentally, the tournament was won by Goichi who defeated Nanpon 3-0 in an absolutely one-sided all-Japanese grand final.
If you're unfamiliar with DNF Duel, it's a fighting game based on the ultra-popular Dungeon & Fighter franchise developed by Arc System Works. It's currently available for PS5, PS4, and PC, and a Nintendo Switch version is coming on April 20, 2023.
We recently heard about another game based on the Dungeon & Fighter franchise which is currently in development. Code-named Project DW, all we know is that it's an open-world action RPG set in the Dungeon & Fighter universe for consoles, PC, and mobile platforms.
