Tom Clancy's The Division has only been out for a little over 2 days, but the title set in a post-smallpox Manhattan is already Ubisoft's fastest selling title ever. This not only makes it their most successful launch ever, according to Ubisoft they now have 3 of the top 4 "most successful game brand launches" the industry has ever had.

The launch of The Division is a tremendous achievement for Ubisoft, and demonstrates our unrivaled capacity to create fantastic new game brands and transform them into entertainment blockbusters.

This is a momentous day for Ubisoft, but more importantly it marks the start of millions of players’ enduring engagement in The Division’s game world, which we are confident they will love.

-Yves Guillemot, Ubisoft CEO

The precise numbers are unknown, but the enormous amount of public interest comes as no surprise. After the public beta had 6.4 million people logging in over the course of a weekend to play the game, all signs pointed towards a successful release for the game developed by the Swedish Ubisoft Massive branch.

Tom Clancy's The Division is out now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms and puts you in the shoes of an activated sleeper agent of the illustrious Division department as you try to restore order to New York City after a mutated form of the smallpox virus descended the city in chaos.

Quick Take

I've been playing this game myself for the past couple of days and while the gameplay won't blow anyone's mind at any rate, I've got to say that I'm impressed by the sheer amount of detail Ubisoft Massive has managed to pour into The Division. The story, while dragged down by horribly cliched characters and equally cliched dialogue, gives more than enough justification for the gameplay and the presentation is, true to form for Ubisoft games, stellar. My experience was pretty smooth with minimal problems/bugs as well, apart from the now infamous laptop queue. I wonder what they'll turn this game into, given enough time to work on new features.

I've been playing games since I was just barely able to walk so I might as well write about them.
