Larian Studios' excellent and award-winning RPG, Divinity: Original Sin 2, will be getting an exclusive The Dark Eye campaign in a free update. The campaign was made in collaboration with Ulisses Spiele, the developers of the successful tabletop-RPG series.

Available in the game's Game Master mode, the Prison of Shadow campaign will throw players into the dangerous and exciting world of The Dark Eye. The adventure is designed for 3-5 players and will see heroes enter an abandoned dwarven city in search of a dangerous artifact. There, they will fight a desperate battle against cultists of the Nameless God.

"Revisiting The Dark Eye setting takes Larian back to its roots in tabletop roleplaying, which has always been at the heart of the studio’s design philosophies." Larian Studios said. "Developing the Prison of Shadows adventure involved bringing the past to life, and a camera crew was on hand to document the process. Their final footage, delivered to Larian in an envelope sealed with an unknown arcane symbol, can be seen below."

The campaign, which is designed for both "new and experienced Game Masters and their parties", will be available as a free update on Steam November 21, 2018. It will also feature a variety of tools for GMs to make their own adventures in the world in the GM Tool Set.

The campaign's launch will be streamed live on Larian Studio's Twitch channel on 21st of November, at 7 pm CET, where players will be able to ask the developers about the campaign and more.

Quick Take

I don't have much experience with The Dark Eye (I think I reviewed a game based on The Dark Eye once and it wasn't very good) but I love Divinity: Original Sin 2. It's really cool that this is free and in collaboration with the developers of The Dark Eye. I hope Larian does more like this in the future.
