Dissidia NT Free Edition Coming To PC And PS4

Square Enix's Final Fantasy fighting game will be re-releasing this March on PS4 and PC for free. Dissidia NT Free Edition launches on Steam and PS4 March 12th and will feature a rotating roster of the famous character from the full game. The free edition marks the first time that the game will be available for PC users and will allow those using the free version of the game to play against players with the full edition.

Dissidia NT was initially released in Japanese arcades before making the leap to console in early 2018 on the PS4. While the game had proven popular in the arcades Square Enix expressed disappointment in the games poor sales. In a quarterly report for early 2018, Square Enix hoped to drive sales post-launch since the game was designed around it's multiplayer.

Initial sales have not reached the level we had first expected, but since this is a game geared toward multiplayer gaming experience, post-launch initiatives are key. We expect that repeat sales will grow by our hosting events and other initiatives going forward.
It is possible that Dissidia NT Free Edition is being released in an attempt to boost post-release sales, as well as bring in some revenue from the game. The free edition will include the ability for players to pay for individual characters and weapons to keep using them while they're not in the roster rotation. Free users will have access to four characters at a time and rotate weekly allowing for all characters to be available on a regular basis. Dissidia NT Free Edition will also still support offline and online battles.

What do you think about Dissidia NT going free-to-play? Do you think this is a wise move for Square Enix? Do you plan on playing Dissidia NT? Join in the conversation in the comment down below.
