Disgaea 6 has been announced as a Nintendo Switch exclusive at the Nintendo Direct Mini for September 2020.
The first Disgaea game in six years has the players playing as Zed, a zombie who has risen above everyone except one, a God of Destruction. This game will have players as a Netherworld zombie rise up and try to destroy a god when he threatens their way of (un)life, with Zed rising from the lowest rung of the Netherworld ladder along with his sister Bieko. Zed will also unite with other "twisted and colorful denizens of different Netherworlds", and to do so he will also have to deal with his own personal problems in order to succeed.
The game has features such as Super Reincarnation (where if the player dies they can try again until they succeed), 3D Visuals for the first time in the series, and adjustable gameplay that will make this game suitable for old and new fans of the Disgaea series. The story for Disgaea 6 will be a "grim yet touching story" with gameplay elements that are appearing for the first time. Players will be able to use special attacks and utilize support from many different ally units, with customization options such as Auto, Retry, and Replay allowing players to dictate their game how they want.
In related news, Disgaea 5 will be temporarily available to download and play for Nintendo Switch Online members from September 23 at 10 a.m. PT until September 29 at 11:59 p.m. PT. Pretty cool news for those wanting to dip their toes into the series.
Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny will release exclusively for the Nintendo Switch in Summer 2021. If you want to pre-order it on the official NIS America store, be sure to go here.
