Strategy RPG The DioField Chronicle is getting a major new update in March. This one's not just about gameplay tweaks; instead, it's bringing new story content, a new weapon, and extra challenges, so if you think you're done with The DioField Chronicle, it might be time to think again.

According to a Steam announcement, the March DioField Chronicle update's main addition is a new piece of story content starring Blue Fox head Waltaquin Redditch. Using the newly-added Grimoire weapon, you'll need to summon powerful skeletal knights and dragons to help you overcome your enemies.

You'll soon be using this dragon to smite your enemies in The DioField Chronicle.

As well as the new Grimoire and necromantic abilities it brings, you'll also be facing off against a new boss in the form of the Behemoth, who looks exactly as intimidating as you'd expect. He's got more than a whiff of the Final Fantasy Behemoth about him, which makes sense given that both games are Square Enix properties.

If you've played through The DioField Chronicle and found it a little too easy for your tastes, you'll be pleased to know the March update is also adding a new difficulty option, Very Hard. Said update is also adding "a new difficulty option for New Game+", and it sounds like the two will be distinct from one another, so you should find your experience a bit more customizable come March.

You can pick up The DioField Chronicle right now on PC via Steam, as well as on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. The game received relatively lukewarm reviews on release back in September, so hopefully some free content updates like this one will help it to gain a little more traction.

In the meantime, if you're hankering for other tactical RPGs, you're spoilt for choice right now. Fire Emblem Engage is coming in January, and you can pick up Tactics Ogre Reborn right now, assuming that the silly profanity filter doesn't turn you off the game. We'll bring you more on DioField Chronicle and all things tactical RPG as soon as we get it.
