These days, some games are no longer just released as functional products to a generally positive reception and left behind as the studio moves on to a new project. Both developers and publishers have become more aware of a new development model that emphasizes a close relationship with the audience. It's no longer enough to give them a product, they must also deliver an experience that lives up to their expectations.
Following the release of Diluvion, the reception was lukewarm at best, with a 66 score on Metacritic, and a 65 on OpenCritic. Our own review of Diluvion last year was mostly positive, with a 7.5 score. Not satisfied with the reception, the studio Arachnid Games set to work in order to overhaul the game, and the result is now available as Diluvion: Resubmerged.
Arachnid Games and publisher Good Shepherd Entertainment are following in the footsteps of major overhauls such No Man's Sky: Next. It should go without saying that all previous owners will get the overhauled version for free. The deep sea submarine exploration and action game inspired by Jules Verne now includes a plethora of new features and content that will offer players new and old an exciting and brand new underwater adventure.
New features add more strategic depth to looting and crew management, as well as the upgrading of different submarines to fit the player's needs and playstyles. Salvaging has become more dynamic, with hazard battles that make use of the crew's abilities and items. There's also a new forging system that offers deeper customization of your vessel with armor upgrades and an increase of depth range and life support. There's also the technical upgrade of the game, with enhanced visuals, new graphics settings, a complete overhaul of the UI that improves quest tracking and waypoints. It's now possible to save anywhere. Finally, the upgrade also includes new side quests, artwork, and music.
