The Digital Dragons Indie Celebration has been announced for May 2020! With The Game Festival returning to Steam this summer, gamers will be spoiled for choice in checking out upcoming indie games. Now, another such event is also on the way — and it will be here first.

If you happen to be unfamiliar with Digital Dragons, you might not know that it's a pretty big gaming industry event in Central Europe. Every year, it brings developers to Kraków, Poland from all over the world. According to a press release, last year's event featured 2,000 people from 650 companies, all arriving in Poland from 48 different countries. In a sense, it's sort of like a European GDC.

Now, a press release states that the same people behind Digital Dragons are teaming up with Polish developer Walkabout Games (Wanderlust Travel StoriesLiberated) to debut the Digital Dragons Indie Celebration. This event will let 50 hand-picked game developers show off their wares on a dedicated Steam event page, similar to The Game Festival and other such events in the past.

The Indie Festival plans to include live demos on the event page, but that's not all — there will also be three full days of live streams, a portion of which will include developer interviews. The conclusion of the event will feature a virtual award ceremony recognizing the top three games of the show along with the results of other awards determined by the judges and the community.

Playing more indie games is always good, so when will you be able to check out this Indie Celebration?

While The Game Festival is taking place in June, you'll be able to enjoy a different flavor of indie goodness a little earlier: The Digital Dragons Indie Celebration will take place from May 13–15, 2020.

For now, indie developers who are interested in participating are urged to consider submitting their game to this event. Submissions will be open from April 20–26, 2020 and can be made via this form. As for the rest of us, we can look forward to this event arriving next month. It's sure to be worth a look!
