There's some bad news for Digimon fans — the Digimon Survive release date has been delayed again for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, this time to 2022.
As GamerBraves reports, Toei Animation has released a new financial report. Toei Animation is the company responsible for the Digimon franchise along with several other heavy hitters in the world of anime including Dragon Ball, One Piece, and Sailor Moon. Unfortunately, that financial report reveals that we're going to be waiting a little longer to play Digimon Survive.
The latest Toei Animation financial report [PDF] notes that there has been a gradual slide in sales since 2019. However, things seem to be stabilizing for the company and it's expected to resume growth starting in 2022, albeit slightly.
Digimon Survive was first announced for Western markets nearly three years ago with a planned release date window of 2019. That was later changed to 2020 and erroneously noted as "TBA" due to an error on the part of Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu.
Fans of the Digimon franchise haven't had a whole lot to do in recent years; the most recent notable releases were Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth in 2016 and Digimon World: Next Order in 2016. I'm sure that there are loads of people looking forward to playing Digimon Survive; sadly, it looks like Digimon fans are going to be waiting even longer to play it.
When is the Digimon Survive Release Date?
The Digimon Survive release date is now sometime in Q3 2022. That means that the game is expected to launch sometime between July 1–September 30, 2022.
Unfortunately, there's still a lot that we don't yet know about this game. We've seen some screenshots and a bit of gameplay over the years, but much of this upcoming game remains shrouded in mystery. Hopefully, we'll finally learn some more substantial details in the coming year.
