Nine Sols

The latest game from Devotion developer and later publisher Red Candle Games has finally been announced. Nine Sols, a 2D action platformer with Sekiro-inspired deflection-focused combat-and was first teased earlier this year-will be releasing sooner or later.

If you'd like to know more, the exact release date or pretty much anything else is unknown at this point because all we have right now is this Twitter announcement:

Red Candle Games was made famous due to their indie horror title, Devotion, back in 2019. This is because the game was found to contain artwork mocking the President of China, Xi Jinping. As one might expect, this is illegal under Chinese law. The artwork itself focused on Jinping's likeness to Winnie the Pooh, which is usually used when criticizing him or his Chinese government. Once this artwork was found, the game was subsequently pulled from online stores until March of this year, where Devotion was released DRM-free via Red Candle Games' own online store.

Since then, Red Candle Games has been pretty quiet, save for the teaser that was released around the same time as its own e-shop. That's going to change as marketing gets underway for Nine Sols, which honestly looks fairly intriguing. There's a lot of 2D platformers on the market, but there's always room for more.
