In another madcap release video, Devolver Digital announced Enter the Gungeon - House of the Gundead. This classic-styled game features an arcade cabinet with actual light pistol controllers. The first shipment of the game will be full arcade cabinets, presumably with digital versions of the game to follow. This may be the rumored $5k video game expected from Devolver at E3 2019.
As is standard with the publisher, we were left wondering if this was an elaborate prank. But Devolver tends to stand by its word, the more outrageous the more likely they'll bring it to life. While a full-sized arcade cabinet, featuring tiny bullets reminiscent of Enter the Gungeon may seem like an absurd investment, Devolver Digital feels there is definitely a market out there. At the very least, it could become a collector's item, for certain.
The specs on the game itself make it sound like it's ripped right out of a late '80s early '90s arcade. The game allows up to two players, using the light gun controllers, to blast their way through multiple levels with more and more outrageous characters. Along the way, players will upgrade their guns, learn to dodge incoming fire and take down some of the top Gungeon foes on their way to glory. All in the hallowed halls of their home or local arcade.
This seems like just the thing to spice up a modern, millennial break room or a classic gamer's home stash. No release dates or price points were given, but those cabinets don't come cheap. Players can expect to shell out a fine penny for the first shot at Enter the Gungeon - House of the Gundead from Devolver Digital.
