The developers of the action-driving game Destruction AllStars, Lucid Games, have teamed up with Rare Ltd to further the development of the popular adventure game Sea of Thieves.
A tweet from Lucid Games reveals that the studio will now support the development of Sea of Thieves and the future content releases for the game. The support studio has helped several other large titles in the past, such as Apex Legends, Jedi: Fallen Order, and EA Sports PGA Tour. At the time of writing, there really isn't much information other than what can be read from the tweet in regard to what they might be bringing to their latest support game. Hopefully, this means that Rare will be able to bring more content and DLCs to the fans in the near future but only time will tell.
From the looks of it, it appears that this partnership may have been in the works for quite some time, as they do say "It’s been incredible supporting them on their thrilling pirate adventure". This makes us think that they have been keeping their work on the game under lock and key for a while, but doesn't give a lot of context as to why that might be. One interesting thing to note is that in a comment thread under this post, the company announced that they are currently hiring, mainly for roles that help them support this new endeavor.
The game originally launched back in 2018, and since then people can't seem to get enough of pillaging and finding out that the pirate life is indeed for them. The live service game offers several questlines to follow, lets players capture other crews' boats and loot while sailing the vast open seas, and explore remote islands. Rare also launches seasonal updates every three months, providing a regular intake of new content and features.
