When Bungie released Destiny's third expansion The Taken King they also announced a full-priced retail version of the game that included all the content released up to that point in one handy package. Now that the Rise of Iron expansion is looming just over the horizon, Bungie are going to repeat bundling up Destiny content in another retail release.

This new compilation (titled Destiny - The Collection) is specifically targeted at new players and will include the base game and the The Dark BelowHouse of Wolves and The Taken King expansions as well as the upcoming Rise of Iron expansion.

Destiny – The Collection is the perfect starting point for gamers who have yet to experience Destiny.

Destiny – The Collection contains some of the most engaging content Bungie has ever created and the soon‐to‐be released Rise of Iron. It also includes a character boost that will allow new players to instantly join in with friends who are already enjoying Destiny.

Byron Beede, Sr. Vice President of Destiny at Activision.

If you decide to preorder either the collection or the Rise of Iron expansion you will get a special black and silver Iron Gjallerhorn, one of the more popular rocket launchers in the game. If you preorder in select shops around the world) you will also get the Iron Gjallarwing Sparrow you can use while out in the world. If you pre-purchase Destiny - The Collection you will immediately gain access to the base game and all expansion packs out right now, with Rise of Iron becoming available once it releases.

Rise of Iron is the sci-fi/fantasy shooter's 4th big content update and adds a new strike, redesigned classic strikes, a new raid, a new enemy faction, new quests and PvP maps and a Light Level increase in addition to loads of new guns and gear.

The bundle is scheduled to release on September 20 (the very same day as the release of the Rise of Iron expansion) for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 for $59,99. Players on PlayStation will also gain access to additional content in Rise of Iron. This content, much like the platform exclusive content PlayStation players got with The Taken King, is a timed exclusive and will not unlock for Xbox One players "until at least Fall 2017".

What do you think of this announcement? If you've never played Destiny before, would this persuade you to give it a go?

I've been playing games since I was just barely able to walk so I might as well write about them.
