Hackers, aimbotters, and cheaters beware — Destiny 2 anti-cheat is going to be soft-launching in the game next season. Bungie has announced BattlEye as the solution it will be implementing.

Destiny 2 isn't just a PvE game; it has quite a few PvP components as well. Bungie is looking to have a stronger focus on PVP in the coming seasons with new game modes and maps — including some that are being ported from the first Destiny.

Although there are some cheaters in PvE games, it's the PvP side of the equation where it truly becomes a problem. No game developer likes having to deal with this problem, and Bungie has taken the extra step of taking legal action against cheat makers.

"We also filed three lawsuits against cheat makers yesterday — Lavicheats, Veterancheats, and Wallhax aka EliteBossTech, in addition to existing litigation against Ring-1 and Aimjunkies, so we're taking steps internally and externally to try and level the playing field for our players," read a statement from Bungie reported by Forbes' Paul Tassi on Twitter.

Lawsuits can solve part of the problem, but that alone is not enough without a proper Destiny 2 anti-cheat solution in place. That's exactly why Bungie has decided to partner up with BattlEye, one of the biggest anti-cheat software platforms on the market.

When Does the BattlEye Destiny 2 Anti-Cheat Launch?

The Destiny 2 anti-cheat launch will be sometime in the next Season of the game. This will be a "soft launch," so you should keep in mind that things might not run 100% smoothly at the beginning.

"Our partnership with BattlEye will soft launch next Season," read a tweet on the game's official account. "Just another step toward a level playing field for all."

However, there's one tiny issue — we don't yet know the Destiny 2 Season 15 start date for certain. The current Season ends in just a few short days and Bungie will be hosting the Destiny 2 Showcase livestream on August 24, 2021; presumably, we'll hear more about the next Season's start date then. In the meantime, you can play Destiny 2 for free on PC and consoles right now.

What do you think of BattlEye being selected as the Destiny 2 anti-cheat solution? Have you had problems with Destiny 2 cheaters? Let us know in the comments below!
