Sony has revealed some information regarding character creation and the brand new Photo Mode in the upcoming Demon's Souls remake. The former will add many more customization options than in the PS3 version, allowing you to create millions of possible combinations.

How will Demon's Souls' character creator work?

This news comes to us via the official PlayStation blog. In the post, SIE Worldwide Studios creative director Gavin Moore discusses the challenges inherent in remaking a game as beloved as Demon's Souls. Moore says the team aimed to recreate as much of the original game as possible, including the character creation system. You'll be able to create up to 16 million permutations of different appearance features, with many more customization options available than in the original game.

The Demon's Souls team say they wanted players' personal expression of their personalities to go "far beyond" their equipment. The remake's increased visual fidelity and enhanced customization options are intended to "translate into memorable encounters" with other players; since a maximum of six players are now allowed in a single instance, the Demon's Souls team wants you and your created character to stand out more.

What will the Demon's Souls Photo Mode bring?

The original PS3 Demon's Souls didn't feature a Photo Mode, so this is an entirely new addition for the PS5 remake. Sony says this mode will contain everything you need to create memorable screenshots during your time in Boletaria. You'll be able to hide or show weapons and helmets or even remove your character from the scene completely if you're looking to capture the landscape.

As well as these features, Demon's Souls' Photo Mode will also come with a wide range of filters, including monochrome, film grain, and more. There's even a filter intended to mirror the lighting and aesthetic of the original PS3 Demon's Souls for those who prefer "that classic look", according to Sony. You'll be able to use these filters outside of the Photo Mode, too, so if you like the idea of turning Demon's Souls into a 40s noir flick, you can play the whole thing in black and white.

Demon's Souls launches alongside the PlayStation 5 on November 12th.
