Toby Fox has provided a Deltarune update detailing what's going on with the game's development. Fox says the structure for the next few chapters is in place, and that development will be "smoother" on future Deltarune chapters, so hopefully, we should see more Deltarune soon.
What's in this latest Deltarune update?
Over on the official Deltarune site, Toby Fox goes into a little detail regarding how development on Deltarune is going. He reiterates that a full outline for the game is complete and says that although the intent was to work simultaneously on chapters 3, 4, and 5, work has only really been done on chapters 3 and 4 so far.
Despite this, Fox says the team has "exceeded a chapter's worth of bullets, cutscenes, and gimmicks" between chapters 3, 4, and 5. He says the next Deltarune chapters "had certain aspects" that demanded a lot of development time and attention, but that those aspects are now in place, hopefully leading to "smoother and smoother" development from here on out.
While Fox reiterates that there's no new Deltarune coming this year, he does share some of the things the team has been working on. This includes new Light World and Dark World music, as well as screenshots and GIFs showing off new characters or situations. One notable example is a band that can play new music for your town "if you recruited the right characters".
As well as all of this, Fox says there will be a special "Spamton Sweepstakes" starting on Saturday at 3 pm Eastern. Whether you love or hate Spamton, Fox says you'll find something there, and the whole thing is for charity, so make sure to head along to the official Deltarune website this Saturday if you want to know more.
You can grab the first two chapters of Deltarune right now on PC via Steam, and they're also available on Nintendo Switch and PS4. The game is free right now, but Fox says that future chapters won't be.
