The Deep Rock Galactic roadmap has been updated by the developers, changing the timeline for some content, and revealing new additions. Furthermore, Deep Rock Galactic Update 33 is delayed to 2021.

Deep Rock Galactic is a first-person shooter where 1–4 players form a team of Dwarven miners. As the game's name implies, you don't quite dive into the depths of an underground mine like Moria; rather, you're heading out into space. A roadmap was revealed earlier this year, and now Ghost Ship Games has revised the future of the game somewhat while also adding promises for new content.

Check out some of the latest content already in the game with this recent trailer for Deep Rock Galactic Update 32!

Deep Rock Galactic Update 33 Delayed to 2021

The announcement about the Deep Rock Galactic roadmap revision opens with a bit of a downer: Update 33 is going to be delayed to January 2021.

Why is Deep Rock Galactic Update 33? Simply put, working on Update 32 took one month longer than expected. Naturally, this would push the release date of Update 33 back at least one month, but Ghost Ship Games has elected to push it back even further so that it has enough time to ensure the update is filled with fun new content.

The delay in Update 33 might concern some players who were looking forward to the upcoming Yuletide event, but there's no need to worry about that — Ghost Ship Games has said that it will nonetheless activate the event in time for the holiday season despite the delay of Update 33.

The Deep Rock Galactic Roadmap Update Shows a Promising Future

The Deep Rock Galactic roadmap revision details some of the content coming in Update 33. The "Caustic Mire" and "Azure Weald" biomes are being added to the game along with some new enemy variants. The Mactera and Dreadnought are each getting new variants in this update. Naturally, this update will also include a bunch of smaller fixes and changes that will be detailed in its patch notes when they're released.

Beyond Update 33, the developers have been analyzing fan feedback in order to determine what should go into Update 34 and beyond. While Ghost Ship Games is cautious about announcing features too early, it has confirmed that it will be adding the first step towards proper mod support in today's announcement.

Furthermore, the Deep Rock Galactic roadmap will start to showcase some new weapons, although there may be quite the wait — the developers note that creating new weapons is "a pretty big task." Players will either get four new primary weapons or four new secondary weapons — but not both — as early as Update 35, although that could change as time goes on.

Deep Rock Galactic continues to deliver more content for players to enjoy, even if they have to wait a little longer than expected. If you haven't yet jumped into this great co-op game, you can buy it for PC and Xbox One via the game's official website.

What do you think of the changes to the Deep Rock Galactic roadmap? Would you prefer to get four new primary weapons or four new secondary weapons in a future update? Let us know in the comments below!
