Deep Rock Galactic developer Ghost Ship Games has announced that it's setting up a new indie publishing division. The appropriately-named Ghost Ship Publishing will have open development, flexible design, and solid business at its core, and will announce its first projects "in a couple of weeks".

In a tweet posted on the brand new Ghost Ship Publishing Twitter account, the studio describes this venture as a "major expansion into a new vertical". News regarding the first games published by Ghost Ship Publishing will be available in the next few weeks, apparently, but until then, a new official website has also been set up for the publisher.

According to said website, there are three core tenets at the heart of Ghost Ship Publishing's philosophy. The first is "open development", which aims to bring fans into the fold when it comes to the development process. Next is "flexible design"; Ghost Ship says it wants its publishing endeavors to have "deep systems" and be "endlessly expandable".

You might know Ghost Ship best from Deep Rock Galactic, but there's more to the studio than that, as its new publishing venture shows.

Finally, there's "solid business", which translates to "fair deals, equal partnerships, full transparency, and consumer-friendly business models" in Ghost Ship's language. The studio says it wanted to start this publishing venture because it sees a lot of smaller projects fail without getting a chance, and it wants to "give a bit back to the community" by helping other developers.

It's a busy time for Ghost Ship right now. At the start of March, the studio will celebrate Deep Rock Galactic's fifth anniversary, and the original 2018 version of the game will be playable in all its glory. According to Game Developer, the anniversary event will also be when we hear the first details of what Ghost Ship Publishing has cooking.

We'll have to wait and see what happens during that event. In the meantime, if you've yet to check out Deep Rock Galactic, you can play it right now on PC via Steam, and it's also available on PlayStation consoles and Xbox platforms. Right now, if you're an Xbox Game Pass subscriber, you can also enjoy the game as part of your subscription.
