Developer White Rabbit and publisher Serenity Forge have announced that Death's Gambit: Afterlife will be receiving a new DLC: Death's Gambit: Ashes of Vados. It will be releasing on PC on February 10, 2022, with Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 releases coming in Spring 2022. An Xbox release has also been announced, with Death's Gambit: Afterlife and Death's Gambit: Ashes of Vados releasing on the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S platforms this spring as well.

Originally, Death's Gambit didn't do so well back in 2018, at least critically. With the free Afterlife upgrade that nearly tripled the game's size overhauling the game, critics and gamers alike have responded much more positively to the revamped version of the game. I think it's fair to say that this success has directly led to the Death's Gambit: Ashes of Vados DLC announcement. Let's go over it, shall we?

What's new in Ashes of Vados?

The DLC will include a new boss encounter that will continue the Death's Gambit storyline. Once the boss is defeated, a "drastically different and challenging heroic version of this boss encounter called "The Eldritch Hand" will be unlocked. There are also new platforming challenges in the Halls of Cruelty, which will test the reflexes and platforming skills of players.

If that's not your cup of tea, a new combat arena in the form of a Horde mode will have players fighting off waves of enemies. If you like the sound of that but want a different flavor of combat, there's also a Boss rush mode that will allow players to fight all the bosses in normal or heroic difficulty modes.

New modes include Randomized Items, Heroic Forced, Madness Mode, and Fink Mode. Players looking for new items to obsess over will receive that upon completing the Halls of Cruelty, Ash, boss rush, and arena challenges.

If that's not enough there's also a Nintendo Switch physical version of Death's Gambit. The physical copy includes the game, a sticker pack of lumberkin, and a reversible map/character compendium.
