A new Deathloop update has arrived that promises to fix the stuttering issue on PC, but another problem remains that will require a more detailed investigation on the part of the developers.

Deathloop is a brand-new shooter from Arkane Studios where players are trying to escape a time loop by killing the right people. Unfortunately, the game had a bit of a shaky launch on PC in a somewhat literal sense: there were stuttering issues for some players that were so bad, they likely contributed towards a review bomb. Now, a new update has arrived that promises to tackle the problem -- but not for everyone.

Deathloop Update 1.708.4.0 Fixes Stuttering in Some (But Not All) Situations

Deathloop Update 1.708.4.0 has only a single item in its patch notes, detailing a stutter fix for one of the situations that have been plaguing some players.

  • This hotfix addresses an issue experienced by some players on PC whereby mouse-based camera movement could result in the appearance of "stutter."

That's great to hear, but there's also some disappointing news in the mix, too: Arkane has identified a separate (but related) issue that it believes could be a cause behind the Deathloop stutter problem when you're playing at high framerates. It's going to take Arkane some time to figure this one out, though, so this patch only has a partial fix for the problem.

Considering the nature of the remaining stuttering issue, it may be a good idea to cap your framerate temporarily after today's update if you're still experiencing stuttering to see if that helps. You might also want to try turning down your graphical settings. Unfortunately, there's no concrete fix for the high framerate stuttering issue just yet outside of attempting to tweak your graphics settings, so you may end up having to wait on another patch from the developer.

Whether you're trying to figure out the Slab system or challenging the Queen of Riddles, there's still tons of fun to be had in Deathloop! You can buy Deathloop for PC and consoles via its official website starting at $59.99 or your regional equivalent.
