Arkane Studios' time-bending shooter Deathloop has a release date. The game will apparently launch for PC and PlayStation 5 on May 21st as a timed console exclusive. It'll also come to the Xbox Series X|S at an unspecified later date.

What do we know about Deathloop?

This news comes to us via the New Zealand PlayStation Store, where listings for both a Standard and Digital Deluxe edition of Deathloop can now be found. Arkane's shooter is due to hit New Zealand stores on May 20th, and since New Zealand is around a day ahead of US timezones, we can expect the game to land on American shores on May 21st.

Julianna shooting in Deathloop
After a delay earlier this year, Deathloop is now due to hit PS5 and PC in May next year.

If you're interested as to what you'll get if you pick up the Deathloop Digital Deluxe edition (which will set you back around $149.95 in NZ money, with a US price yet to be determined), here's a quick rundown of everything you can expect. Naturally, the standard edition simply contains a copy of Deathloop, but here are the goodies included with the Digital Deluxe edition:

  • Deathloop game
  • Transtar Trencher weapon
  • Eat The Rich Tribunal weapon
  • 44 Karat Fourpounder weapon
  • "Party Crasher" Colt skin
  • "Sharp Shooter" Julianna skin
  • Two equippable Trinket buffs
  • Selections from the Deathloop Original Soundtrack

Deathloop is a first-person shooter created by Prey and Dishonored developer Arkane Studios. You'll take the role of Colt, an assassin trapped in a time loop and tasked with killing eight other assassins before the night is over. The game was originally due to launch earlier, but was delayed to Q2 2021 in light of development complications caused by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Despite Deathloop being an Arkane Studios game - and Arkane Studios, as a subsidiary of Bethesda, now being owned by Microsoft - the game will be a timed PlayStation 5 exclusive, as it was in development prior to the deal going through. Deathloop will be coming to the Xbox Series X|S, although we unfortunately don't know when just yet. Stay tuned for more news on this one.

Dark Souls changed my life, and I'm here to spread the good news. I like pretty much all sorts of games, but I judge everything by its proximity to our Lord and saviour, Dark Souls.
