Motive Studios and EA have announced that the Dead Space remake release date has been locked in for early 2023 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Last summer, a Dead Space remake was confirmed during EA Play Live 2021 (and surprisingly, it's not the only project Motive Studios is working on). This upcoming game isn't going to just be a remaster with a fresh coat of paint, either -- Motive Studios is working on rebuilding the game from the ground up, using the original games and their design documents as guidance.
While this announcement was certainly welcomed by fans of survival horror games, we had no idea when we'd be able to play it. That all changed when the Dead Space remake developers hosted a livestream earlier today that detailed the audio design of the game.
The Audio Developer livestream showed off audio occlusion features and a comparison of weapons. What was most interesting, however, was the new A.L.I.V.E. system. Essentially, Isaac's condition will affect the voice lines and sounds that you hear from him. For example, he'll sound noticeably exhausted if he talks while fatigued.
In general, the livestream shows off some pre-release animation in a test environment and dives deep into the challenges of sound design. More importantly, the Dead Space remake release date window was revealed following the conclusion of that stream.
When is the Dead Space Remake Release Date?
The Dead Space remake release date will be sometime in early 2023. A more specific release date has not yet been announced.
Another livestream focusing on the art design of this upcoming game will debut in May 2022. For now, you can learn a bit more about this hotly-anticipated upcoming game by swinging by its official website.
