Dead or Alive 6 Adds Ninja Gaiden's Momiji as New Character

It's the 15th anniversary of the surprisingly awesome Ninja Gaiden reboot. What's a good way to celebrate it? Adding a guest character to Dead or Alive 6, of course. Yes, Momiji will be joining the roster of playable characters as DLC.

Originally introduced in Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword, the Nintendo DS spin-off of the series, Momija is a Dragon Shrine Maiden and a playable character throughout the series. While she is know for fighting with a naginata, it appears she's going to be using her fists to take on the other competitors in the Dead or Alive series. In addition to this, Momiji will be coming with five unique costumes. While she's the biggest addition, also on September 19th the game will also get the Morphing Ninja Costume set, which will add 26 new costumes to the game that will change what they look like whenever you perform a break blow. The free to play version of Dead or Alive 6, titled Core Fighters, will also celebrate the Ninja Gaiden anniversary by having Ryu Hayabusa and Ayane available for free until September 25th.

This isn't Momija's first time being a guest character in the Dead or Alive series. She was originally featured in both Dead or Alive 5: Last Round and the series spin-off game Dead or Alive Xtreme 3. Momija was also playable in Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate, and appeared as a non-playable quest giver in Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce where you could earn her naginata as a weapon for completing her quests.

Momija will be available to download on September 19th. Dead or Alive 6 is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

How do you feel about the Dead or Alive series? Going to play as Momiji? Does this just make you want a new Ninja Gaiden game as badly as I do? Let us know in the comments below!
