The Artist, the killer added in the new Dead by Daylight update

A new Dead by Daylight update is arriving this month, and it's bringing more murder with it. This time around, the killer has a flair for the artistic, while the new survivor is a CIA codebreaker who has uncovered a troubling new formula.

What's in this new Dead by Daylight update?

After previous updates added Hellraiser's Pinhead (part of a decision that brought no small amount of controversy) and Resident Evil's Nemesis, this latest Dead by Daylight update, "Portrait of a Murder", is adding some all-original content. This represents the game going "back to its roots", according to creative director Dave Richard. The new killer is The Artist, who was once famed Chilean painter Carmina Mora. Saved from the brink of death by crows, Mora has become a vessel for her flock and will set them on anyone she deems unworthy of her art.

The Artist is Dead by Daylight's grisly new killer. She uses crows to get what she wants. We've all been there.

A new survivor has also been added in this Dead by Daylight update. Jonah Vasquez is described by the devs as a "seasoned agent" who discovers an unsettling string of numbers that keep recurring throughout his life. Vasquez and The Artist are bringing a new map with them, too: The Forsaken Boneyard. This chilling arena features a massive crypt on which The Artist's crows constantly roost, observing the Entity as it rips survivors apart. Spooky.

Dead By Daylight Epic Games Store dawn

As well as the new killer and survivor, Behaviour Interactive also revealed a Dead by Daylight Epic Games Store release. The game will arrive on the Epic Store in December, and it will bring all of its previously-available DLC with it. Happily, the Epic Store supports Dead by Daylight crossplay and cross-platform progression, as long as you've got a Behaviour account. The Artist doesn't care what platform you're playing on; she's happy to eviscerate you on Epic, Steam, or any of the consoles on which Dead by Daylight is available.

In the meantime, if you can't wait to get started on the slaughter (or escaping same), you can pick up Dead by Daylight right now on PC via Steam. It's also available on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. The game will be available for the Epic Games Store in December, and the new "Portrait of a Murder" update will land sometime this month. We'll bring you more on this, including potential Dead by Daylight patch notes, as soon as we get it.
