Though we may never see a sequel to the game Days Gone, we may just see a movie made about the iconic game. Though there is no concrete evidence as of yet, there are strong reasons to believe that Sony PlayStation Productions might be working on a film in the near future.

First reported by Deadline, Sony is apparently working on the Days Gone movie with writer and producer Sheldon Turner. It is also rumored the movie will be produced by both Sony and Vendetta Productions. Deadline also went on to state,

"I hear Turner’s script will be a love ballad to motorcycle movies; the bike being Deacon’s sole form of transportation, his horse in this would-be, modern-day western."

Days Gone was initially released in 2019, and the action-adventure game did pretty well in terms of reviews and sales. The game takes place in a post-apocalyptic setting, where players take on the life of Deacon ST. John, a motorcycle-riding, bounty-hunting, show-no-mercy kind of guy. Though he's a drifter, he still tries to find reasons to keep going, though the world around his is crumbling beneath his feet. Fighting off violent and unforgiving gangs attempting to steal the shoes right off your feet, and hordes of Freakers, you must learn to adapt and survive in the barren wasteland that is now your reality.

While this is not the first game Sony has taken to the big screen, this would be interesting to see. Uncharted the movie released earlier this year in February, and saw over $401.7 million from box office sales. Yes, that is an astounding number, but what makes it even more monumental is the fact that the budget for the film was $120 million, meaning they made a killing off of this release. Seeing as how the Days Gone game sold over 8 million copies on console alone, one can only imagine how much it could rake in from the film adaptation.

There have been several announcements by Sony regarding video games being turned into both movies and TV series. One of which was a God of War television series that will be coming later on this year, and will be exclusive to Amazon Prime Video. There was also mention of Ghost of Tsushima becoming a movie as well, but the director insisted that the movie be as authentic as humanly possible. Not only does director Chad Stahleski want the entire cast to be made up of a complete Japanese cast, but he also wants the entire movie to be scripted in the Japanese language as well. The Last of Us series will also be making its way to HBO and HBO Max, where Bella Ramsey will play the role of Ellie.

As of right now, there are no concrete details in regards to this possible Days Gone movie, but it goes without saying that the love letter to Motorcycle could go down in the books just like Uncharted did.
