Daymare 1998

If you've been looking for a horror throwback game, Daymare: 1998 may have what you're looking for. And if you've already got it, good news, as the game is getting some free DLC.

Titled H.A.D.E.S. Dead End, the DLC puts you in the role of a man named Liev, who's part of a tactical force known as H.A.D.E.S. It seems him decked out in a gas mask and military uniform, which really makes him look like a hunk. When a zombie apocalypse threatens the company he works for, known as Hexacore, he needs to go through and remove all traces that may lead anyone to believe Hexacore was the reason it happened. Basically, he needs to protect the company he works for, sort of like how an umbrella would protect you from rain.

Your goal is to race the clock, trying to get through the level as quickly as possible. If you kill zombies in combos you lower your time, letting you finish the level "faster." On the other hand, getting hit adds to your time. While this may sound familiar, one of the big features is that you can change up just how Liev starts the level. You can pick one of four classes, letting him be a scout, heavy, assault, or medic, which gives him different items and abilities. There are also two different gameplay modes, where you can either play the level normally or with random modifiers. Overall, fans of Daymare: 1998 sound like they're getting a good chunk of free and repeatable content for the game.

Daymare: 1998 is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
