It seems like all things must come to an end. Thankfully, that sometimes includes the early access phase of a game. Phoenix Labs has announced that Dauntless will be hitting version 1.0 on September 26th.
Originally launched into open beta on PC back in 2018, with a console version following a year later, Dauntless is a Monster Hunter styled game where you team up with friends to hunt down and slay giant monsters. Now the beta ends, with the launch of version 1.0. Thankfully, the content isn't ending. The launch comes with a new behemoth for players to hunt, named the Temptestborn Stormclaw. You can get a preview of this horned wolf-like creature in the trailer below.
In addition to this, a new weapon is being added to the game as well. Called the Aether Strikers, this pair of fists looks like it packs a punch (haha get it?) and delivers some fire-based attacks that are sure to help with hunting monsters. While that's all being added on the 26th, Phoenix Labs says that it's the start of a new season of content, under the name Aether Unbound. While they aren't specific on the details yet, there's a new Hunt Pass and more weapons, behemoths, and challenges are promised in an open letter by CEO Jesse Houston. If you're looking to see what's currently in the works, you can check out Dauntless' roadmap here.
Dauntless is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One as a free to play game. There are plans to bring it to the Nintendo Switch as well.
