A Redditor has datamined what appears to be upcoming Hogwarts Legacy DLC or pre-order bonuses. Looking at the source code of the game's official website reveals the items, and it looks like some of them may be digital or digital deluxe pre-order bonuses.

What do we know about this Hogwarts Legacy DLC?

Hogwarts Legacy is currently slated to arrive later this year, and ahead of its launch, Redditor opalelement appears to have stumbled upon pre-order bonuses for the game. To find the items listed, the Redditor simply viewed the page source and found eight things that could conceivably be additional DLC received with certain editions of the game. In addition, opalelement says they found labels marked "Digital Only" and "Digital Deluxe Only", although these labels didn't correspond to the items, so we don't know which of them will be offered as part of which edition.

Several new Hogwarts Legacy DLC items appear to have been datamined, including a new mount and more.

Here's the full list of what opalelement found in the Hogwarts Legacy website's code. The information appears to have been deleted from the page source at time of writing, but helpful Redditor NorthernLordEU managed to copy and paste the list before it was removed.

  • Thestral Mount
  • Dark Arts Cosmetic Pack
  • Dark Arts Battle Arena
  • Dark Arts Garrison Hat
  • 72 Hours Early Access to the Game
  • Kelpie Robe
  • Steel Case
  • Floating Ancient Magic Wand with Book

Obviously, we don't know exactly what any of these items are, nor do we know how they fit into the game. As opalelement speculates, one or two of these items might be actual physical pre-order bonuses, such as the Steel Case or Floating Wand items. Others are evidently intended for use in the game, like the Cosmetic Pack or the early access period. The game's developers have also confirmed that there will be no Hogwarts Legacy microtransactions, so unless they've backpedaled on this stance since that announcement (which is entirely possible), it looks like these items will be bonuses for purchasing certain editions of the game. Of course, since there has been no official announcement, as opalelement points out, these could just be placeholder items or old pre-order bonuses that have seen been updated or removed. We'll have to wait and see what Warner Bros announces in the near future.

What is Hogwarts Legacy?

Hogwarts Legacy is an upcoming open-world action-adventure game set in the Harry Potter universe, also known as the Wizarding World. The game is a distant prequel to the Harry Potter series and will take place in the 1800s. You will play as a student who holds a secret that could "tear the wizarding world apart", so you'll need to come to terms with that while also living and studying at Hogwarts. The game has been the subject of some degree of controversy since it was announced; Harry Potter writer J.K. Rowling's noted anti-trans views have caused concern among trans gamers and allies. Apparently, you will be able to create trans characters in the game, and the developers have confirmed that J.K. Rowling is "not involved" in the creation of Hogwarts Legacy, but some gamers are concerned that it is impossible to separate her from anything involving the Harry Potter IP.

We don't yet have a release date for Hogwarts Legacy, but the game is due to arrive sometime towards the end of this year (assuming it doesn't get delayed again, of course). Naturally, we will bring you more on the game as soon as we get it, including whether or not these pre-order bonuses will be offered alongside certain editions.
