Fortnite Annual Pass Cancelled

Recent data mining efforts have uncovered the Fortnite Annual Pass, something that's exactly what it says on the tin: a yearlong pass of content for Fortnite. What's even more surprising is that Epic Games has said that they're not releasing it.

Let's rewind a bit: data miners did their thing and poked through the v11.30 build of the game. In their searches, they discovered data suggesting a Fortnite Annual Pass. From what we can tell, this would have more or less given players all of the Season Pass content for an entire year at one price. Here is the data mined description of the Annual Pass:

Purchase the 2020 Annual Pass and receive all upcoming 2020 Fortnite Battle Royale: Battle Bundles and 7 Annual Pass exclusive cosmetics. Battle Bundles unlock 25 per cent of content in each Battle Pass instantly upon release.

In a rare move, however, Epic Games has spoken out about it and said that they're not going to be releasing this feature.

"We've seen discussions around a 2020 Annual Pass as a result of data mining the v11.30 build," an Epic spokesperson said in a statement to Eurogamer. "Occasionally prototype features make it into our build that end up not being released. While the 2020 Annual Pass was considered, we have no plans to release it... unlike the Bao Bros."

No Fortnite Annual Pass, but the Bao Bros. Are Still Coming

Like pretty much every other cosmetic under the sun, the Bao Bros. skins were discovered via previous datamining efforts. It has, however, been some time since we've heard anything about making their debut.

In the preceding statement about the cancelation of the Fortnite Annual Pass, Epic Games affirmed that there are still plans to release these skins at some point in the future. Regrettably, they declined to announce a specific release date. Keep your eyes open for this new set of skins at some point in the future.

Would you have purchased the Fortnite Annual Pass? How much would you have paid for it? What do you think of the Bao Bros. skins? Let us know in the comments below!
