Dark Souls Remastered, along with the accompanying Solaire of Astora amiibo, has been delayed on Nintendo Switch until "later this summer", according to Bandai Namco.
Originally, Dark Souls Remastered was due to launch on Nintendo Switch alongside the PS4, Xbox One and Steam versions on May 25th, 2018. This launch was to be accompanied by an amiibo of Solaire of Astora, a popular character from the game. A spokesperson for Bandai Namco said that the delay was in order to "give the development team the time needed to make sure Nintendo Switch players can fully appreciate the true Dark Souls experience".
As far as the release on other systems goes, Bandai Namco has confirmed that the Switch delay won't affect these versions. Dark Souls fans and newcomers alike can still expect the remastered version to launch on May 25th as originally intended.
Dark Souls, developed by From Software, originally launched back in 2011 for PS3 and Xbox 360. A spiritual sequel to the PS3 exclusive Demon's Souls, the game sees players exploring the hostile kingdom of Lordran. A Microsoft Windows version followed in August 2012 - the Prepare to Die Edition - which incorporated the game's Artorias of the Abyss DLC. The console versions received this DLC in October of the same year.
The remastered version, simply titled Dark Souls Remastered, was announced by Bandai Namco back in January 2018 for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam. This version will include the Artorias of the Abyss DLC, as well as an improved resolution, higher and more stable framerate, and various minor improvements to bring the game up to speed with current-gen technology. The remaster will mark the first time Dark Souls has been available to play on PS4, but the original release is playable via the Xbox One's backwards compatibility feature.
