Have you ever been procrastinating on Reddit and wished you could procrastinate a little harder without having to leave the site? Well, thanks to a new Reddit-developed dungeon crawler, now you can!

Dark Dungeon is a brand new game (or set of games, in more realistic terms) played entirely within Reddit itself. All you need to do is navigate to the subreddit that hosts the games and you can check them out for yourself.

Bear in mind that Dark Dungeon is entirely distinct from Red Hook's eldritch RPG Darkest Dungeon, although they're both dungeon-crawlers, so confusion is understandable.

You can play Dark Dungeon within Reddit right now!

At time of writing, Dark Dungeon has seven different maps you can play, and they range from Easy difficulty through Tough all the way to Hard.

There is, apparently, a fourth difficulty mode, Impossible, but none of the maps currently available use that difficulty, so if you're looking for a more robust challenge, you may have to wait a while.

Dark Dungeon also has something of an asymmetrical multiplayer component; when you play, you'll see footprints that mark where other Redditors have been, and you'll also see skulls and tombstones marking where players have died to traps or hunger.

You can't play the game with your keyboard, unfortunately, because Dark Dungeon was developed entirely within Reddit's app system, which doesn't allow keyboard inputs. You can, however, play with your mouse (or by tapping on mobile).

Dark Dungeon has some neat multiplayer twists on the dungeon crawler formula.

Dark Dungeon's devs say that the game is still in active development, and that they're actively watching how players interact with the game, as well as listening to feedback.

As such, if it's too easy or too hard for you right now, you may find that in a few weeks or months, it's been fine-tuned. In any case, it's free to check out via the aforementioned subreddit. You can give the FAQ a read here if you want to know more about the game.
