Star Wars Battlefront took the stage at D23 2015 where Justin Mccully talked about making Star Wars Battlefront look and feel as close as it can to the film series. Some aerial dogfighting was shown as well.
They want to recreate the feeling of playing with the Star Wars toys but in game form through authenticity and technology. They had unprecedented access to original assets and models allowing them to make the game look accurate to the movies. To recreate the environments, the team even went out to original filming locations.
Star Wars Battlefront will tie into the new Star Wars film, The Force Awakens, with The Battle of Jakku, a free DLC to everyone. Taking place after the Battle of Endor (Return of the Jedi) it will help set up some of the events in the film.
One of the nine multiplayer modes, Fighter Squadron, showed off some of the aerial battles and gameplay. You'll be able to play some of the most iconic ships in the series like the X-Wing and Tie Fighter. Some gameplay of the Millenium Falcon was shown as well.
A special edition Darth Vader PS4 was shown at the very end and will be bundled with Star Wars Battlefront or Star Wars Disney Infinity.
The Star Wars fan in me, and someone wanting to buy a PS4 but hasn't yet, just got really excited. Depending how expensive the bundle will be, I am going to probably get it.
Anyway, not a whole lot of new information about Star Wars Battlefront. At most, we got a little insight into what they were going for in terms of the look and feel of the game. We all can see it looks good, but it will come down to whether or not the gameplay is any fun, which we won't know until November.
