We now have a release date for The Cycle: Frontier Season 3, and although it's a little later than you might want, the third season will contain some pretty seismic changes. These include an end to full server wipes, as well as new endgame questlines for the game and more.
In a dev update, lead producer Matt Lightfoot says the duration of Season 2 will be extended and Season 3 will begin on March 29th. When the third season begins, there will be one final mandatory server wipe, after which point progression will no longer be wiped between seasons.
As Lightfoot says, this will require a fundamental rethink of the game's mechanics and economy. The "whole game and economy" will be rebalanced in order to accommodate the lack of server wipes, and this change will mostly affect endgame, with higher-level equipment and gear being more difficult to obtain.
Although there won't be any more mandatory server wipes, Lightfoot says he and Yager are exploring options for players to be able to wipe voluntarily, so they can reset progression whenever you like. That won't be possible at the outset of Season 3, though; Lightfoot says the devs are still looking for the right way to implement this potential change.
As well as the above changes, campaigns will be reworked again to accommodate the new economy rebalance. There will be new endgame content to look forward to as well, and endgame quests will be a major point of expansion for The Cycle: Frontier going forward. This makes perfect sense; after all, a game focused around long-term progression needs something to progress towards, right?
Yager says that more news regarding The Cycle: Frontier Season 3 will be coming later in January, so keep an eye out for that if you want to know what's coming to Fortuna III in future.
