Update 15/06 1:38PM - Sony has confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will be returning to the PlayStation Store next week. In a statement to IGN, Sony said Cyberpunk 2077 will be re-listed on the Store on June 21st, but that users will "continue to experience performance issues" on the base PS4 console. As such, Sony recommends playing on PS5 or on PS4 Pro until these performance issues have been addressed. Original story follows below.

Original story: After a lengthy period of absence, Cyberpunk 2077 appears to be back on the PlayStation Store...sort of. You can find the game by searching for it from the Store, but you can't buy it on PlayStation yet if you don't already own it.

Why has Cyberpunk 2077 been relisted on the PlayStation Store?

This could be a sign that CD Projekt Red is getting ready to re-release Cyberpunk 2077 on PlayStation soon. According to prominent Twitter gaming leaks expert NibelCyberpunk 2077 can be found simply by inputting "Cyberpunk" into the search bar on the PlayStation Store. It's listed as "Just announced", and you can wishlist the game and follow it. If you already own the PlayStation version of Cyberpunk 2077, you can re-download it. You'll be getting version 1.22 of the game if you do so. Searching for Cyberpunk 2077 on the web version of the PlayStation Store returns a listing marked "Announced", with the option to add it to your wishlist and a message stating "release date yet to be determined".

It's not clear whether the game has returned to stores across all territories. We were able to locate the listing on the UK PlayStation Store, though. There, the game is described as "coming soon", and you can wishlist and follow it just as you would for any other Store game. There's no release date listed on the UK version of the Store either.

It's also worth noting that this relisting is occurring mere days before the dedicated Cyberpunk 2077 web refunds portal is shut down. If you want a refund for the game after June 18th, you'll need to go through the usual PlayStation channels. Cyberpunk 2077 is still available via the Microsoft Store, although there is still a disclaimer warning players that they may "experience performance issues" until the game is updated.

Why was Cyberpunk 2077 removed from the PlayStation Store?

Cyberpunk 2077 released in December last year, and controversy quickly grew surrounding the game's state at launch. While it was playable (albeit buggy) on PC and next-gen platforms, players decried the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Cyberpunk 2077, which were perceived to be unacceptably broken due to frequent graphical glitches, crashes, and frame rate drops. As a result of these issues, CD Projekt Red first began offering refunds on these platforms, then delisted the game on the PlayStation Store in mid-December.

Since then, Cyberpunk 2077 has been unavailable on the PlayStation Store, either to re-download or to buy afresh. Speaking to shareholders back in May (thanks, VGC), CD Projekt Red said that reinstating Cyberpunk 2077 on the PS Store is "an exclusive decision" on Sony's behalf. The studio has continued to work on the PlayStation 4 version of the game, fixing bugs and implementing performance improvements, but it doesn't have the final say on when its game can reappear on the Store. It seems like Sony may finally be ready to make that decision, although we'll have to wait and see what happens next.
