The Curse of Monkey Island is the adventure game classic developed and published by LucasArts which serves as the third in the Monkey Island series. It's the first in the series to feature voice acting and focused on Guybrush Threepwood, a pirate who embarks on a quest to lift a curse which is plaguing his lover. After the departure of series creator Ron Gilbert, The Curse of Monkey Island was headed up by Jonathon Ackley and Larry Ahern, who had previously worked on Full Throttle.
Maniac Mansion was released on the Commodore 64 and Apple II as Lucasfilm Games' first self-published product. It's a wacky adventure game which incorporates horror and B-movie cliches. The game is responsible for coining the term "cutscene", and had to be heavily edited for its release on the NES, after being deemed inappropriate for children. The engine built for the game, called the SCUMM engine, was used for later LucasArts games including the Monkey Island series and Full Throttle. Maniac Mansion later spawned a sequel in Day of the Tentacle.
