Cris Tales Release Date Revealed for Summer 2021

Cris Tales! Woo-oo!

Following several delays, the Cris Tales release date has finally been locked in: you'll  be able to play this time-bending love letter to indie JRPGs this summer on PC and consoles!

Cris Tales is a game that evokes the classic gameplay of JRPGs while shedding away a lot of the cruft. That said, it does evoke the spirit of some of its predecessors, most notably Chrono Trigger — you're going to be doing a fair amount of time traveling in this upcoming game.

The dreaded Time Empress is threatening the land of Crystallis. It's up to our hero Crisbell to travel across the land, gaining powerful allies and carefully making choices throughout her journey. A decision made in the past may very well have consequences in the future!

The game was originally announced at E3 2019's PC Gaming Show and it targeted a 2020 release. Unfortunately, it had been delayed a couple of times, most recently back in February when Modus said that it was pushing it back to sometime in the summer of this year. Now,  the fine folks behind this game have finally settled on a launch date according to a press release from the publisher.

When is the Cris Tales Release Date?

The Cris Tales release date is July 20, 2021, for PC and consoles. This upcoming game is going to be available on pretty much every modern platform save for mobile devices.

For now, you're going to have to wait a bit to play it! You can pre-order Cris Tales for PC and consoles via its official website starting at $39.99 or your regional equivalent; do keep in mind that the release date was just announced this morning and not all retailers have opened up pre-orders just yet. You can also check out the game's demo on Steam.

If you're after something a little more premium, you have an option there, too: you can also grab the Collector's Edition from Maximum Games for $99.99 and score some cool physical goodies to go with your purchase.

Are you looking forward to playing Cris Tales when it launches this summer? What do you think of the art style when compared to classic JRPGs? Let us know in the comments below!
