Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time is finally bringing one of PlayStation's greatest platformers to a new generation, and that's not all — the next great Crash Bandicoot game will have a playable Coco right out of the gates.

Check out the Crash Bandicoot 4 Narrated Gameplay Trailer to see our girl in action!

"You can play the entire game as Coco," stated the narration of the Crash 4 State of Play presentation. "Any level that you can play as Crash, you can also play as Coco. It's was also very important for us that she take a more prominent role in the story this time as well."

In addition to a playable Coco, a new "N.Verted" mode. This is essentially a New Game + that mixes up the gameplay in a variety of ways as noted on a PlayStation Blog post. Players will have to contend with new mechanics, changing game speed, and other challenges in this bonus game mode developed in collaboration with Beenox.

These new features are certainly a welcome surprise, but Coco won't be the only playable character joining the roster. In fact, the State of Play presentation revealed that there will be at least four playable characters in the next great Crash Bandicoot game.

Who Are the Playable Crash Bandicoot 4 Characters?

The addition of Crash 4's Coco as a playable character is great news, but it gets even better — she'll be joined by another two characters from the Crash Bandicoot universe. Who are the playable characters in Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time?

  • Crash Bandicoot
  • Coco Bandicoot
  • Dingodile
  • Dr. Neo Cortex

Keep this in mind: Dingodile and Dr. Neo Cortex aren't going to have the same gameplay as Crash. These two new characters will have their own movement abilities, providing an entirely different way to play the game.

The State of Play stream also revealed that there will be cosmetic outfits for Crash which can be earned via gameplay and it also took the trouble to reaffirm the commitment to no microtransactions in Crash 4. The PlayStation Blog post notes that Coco will have outfits as well, although it doesn't say whether or not there will be cosmetics for Dingodile or Dr. Neo Cortex.

You'll be able to play Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time when it launches for the PlayStation 4 on October 2, 2020.

I've had a controller in my hand since I was 4 and I haven't stopped gaming since. CCGs, Tabletop Games, Pen & Paper RPGs - I've tried a whole bunch of stuff over the years and I'm always looking to try more!
