If you remember, Godfall was the first PS5 game to be revealed, which was announced during The Game Awards in December 2019. Now, we finally got a look at some gameplay.

During Sony's Future of Gaming Show, we got to see the Gearbox published Godfall in action - and indeed, there was action aplenty. We got to see some armored up warriors hack and slash through enemies with various weapons and equipped in different types of armor. Weapons and armor seem to be a large focus of the gameplay, so as you play on you'll use newer and better equipment. You will also have access to different abilities to help you excel in combat.

Specifically, a blog post on PlayStation's official site breaks down a few more details about these weapons. There are a total of five different "weapon classes" and you unlock new armor called Valorplates. There's a bit of lore information as well. Godfall takes place in Aperion, and you take the role of "god-like warriors" called Valorian Knights. To read a bit more on the game, take a look at the blog post.

Developed by Counterplay Games, it is set to launch late this year. Holiday 2020 is the launch date for Godfall, and it will be available on PS5 as a timed console exclusive, and coming to the Epic Game Store on PC. Stay tuned for a gameplay trailer.

Quick Take

Does anyone else get some Stormlight Archive vibes from this? I'm not saying it's the most original trope in fantasy, but in this novel series by Brandon Sanderson, warriors equip Shardplate and are extremely powerful while wearing it. They're like gods themselves, nigh unstoppable. It sounds like there could be been some inspiration taken from that. If that's the case, I love it.
