To the delight of those that have been waiting for it, Core Keeper has just been released onto Steam's Early Access. In the casual indie adventure RPG, players are trapped deep underground and must build their base, craft new equipment, power up the core, and survive. While that's all well and good for now, it's the Core Keeper roadmap that's the most interesting part of today's release, and with the game coming out by the end of the year, there's a lot that has to be done between now and then. Let's get to it, shall we?
What's in the Core Keeper roadmap?
There's three updates revealed by the developers that players can expect from the Core Keeper roadmap. Update 1 will have The Sunken Sea, a new biome that's also accompanied with new mechanics and content. Update 2 will also include a Desert Biome, while Update 3 will include a Crystal Biome. Updates 2 and 3 also have a TBD next to them, so it looks the two updates will have more than just a new biome, just like update 1.
Other things that are classified as "Nice to Haves" (but not essentials) are boats, friendly animals, emotes, more character customization options, more unique locations, more unique items, dedicated servers (which are in-progress), additional localization, and porting to consoles. None of these things are too outrageous, so while right now they're things that would be nice to have and not guaranteed, that doesn't mean they will never come either. When they'll come is more up in the air whether in this part of the roadmap, further down the line, or not at all is unknown.
