Control Ultimate Edition has been delayed on next-gen platforms. The game now won't be arriving on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S until early next year, and there's no specific word yet as to a more narrow release window.
Why has Control Ultimate Edition been delayed?
This news comes to us via the official Remedy Entertainment Twitter account. According to Remedy, Control Ultimate Edition has been delayed on next-gen platforms because the studio wants it to be as high-quality as possible. As a result, the devs "need a bit more time to work on it". Remedy simply gives the new release time as "early 2021" and doesn't specify exactly when we can expect the game.

Control Ultimate Edition was originally announced to be coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S earlier this year, with a purported release time of somewhere before the end of 2020. This version of Remedy's reality-bending action-adventure game is already available on Steam. It packs in the base game, of course, plus the two previously-released expansions: "The Foundation" and "AWE".
When can we expect Control Ultimate Edition on next-gen platforms?
If Remedy keeps to its new development schedule, we should expect Control Ultimate Edition sometime within the first few months of next year. Unfortunately, if you own the game on PS4 or Xbox One - even if you're a Season Pass holder - you won't get a free upgrade on next-gen platforms, unless you purchased the Ultimate Edition. This means that if you want to play Remedy's game on next-gen machines, you'll need to buy the Ultimate Edition, whether or not you've already got the game.
