At the Game Developers' Conference (GDC) keynote today, Epic Games announced a partnership with publisher 505 Games to release both Control and Journey to the Savage Planet on the Epic Games Store. Control releases summer 2019, but Journey to the Savage Planet has no current release date. Despite previous statements made by Epic Games, neither title is currently available for preorder.
Control, developed by Remedy Entertainment, fuses the company's signature gunplay with supernatural abilities. The tense third-person action-adventure game seeks to blend the banal with the uncanny. It will feature a simultaneous physical and digital release for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One late this summer with the PC release of Control an epic exclusive.
The other title, Journey to the Savage Planet, is the debut game for Typhoon Studios. Typhoon Studios features seasoned industry members such as Alex Hutchinson, Yassine Riahi, and Reid Schneider. Journey to the Savage Planet is a bright, colorful first-person experience with strange alien creatures. The player must explore and determine if the lush planet is suitable for human habitation. Along the way, they investigate and catalog the planet's native plants and animals. It will be available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with a release date coming sometime later this year.
Digital distribution of both titles will be exclusive to Epic Games' Epic Store for 12 months. Neither 505 Games nor Epic Games gave more details about the deal. But, despite the agreement, not all titles distributed or published by 505 Games will be Epic Store exclusives.
505 Games publishes a large selection of titles for a variety of ages and skill levels. Some of the publisher's other games and titles for distribution include Dead by Daylight, Terraria, PAYDAY 2, Stardew Valley, and Portal Knights.
