Today Marvelous Entertainment announced that its "juvenile JRPG" Loop8: Summer of Gods will be delayed in Japan.

The game was supposed to launch on March 16, 2023, for PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC via Steam, but will instead release on the local market on June 1, 2023, which is a fairly substantial delay,

The reason is the usual mentioned in this kind of case, with the company adding that it's to "further improve quality." It also comes with the traditional apology to those we were eagerly waiting for the game and thanks for the continued support.

The timing of the announcement is unsurprising, as Marvelous will announce its financial results in just a few hours.

Below you can check out a trailer with the new release date released today.

Incidentally, Loop8 has already been announced for the west by Marvelous' North American arm Xseed Games and European subsidiary Marvelous Europe. That being said, the western release has simply been marked as "2023" so we're likely not gonna see a corresponding delay announcement for the localized version (albeit it may be affected internally, but we'll likely never know).

The game has been compared by many to the Persona series, and is officially described as follows:

"In this original coming-of-age RPG, step into the life of Nini, a newly earthbound teen who arrives in the quaint Japanese town of Ashihara in August 1983. Explore the town, befriend its people, and face off against the Kegai in turn-based battles where the outcomes depend on the relationships you’ve built and the decisions you’ve made. Use Nini’s special connection to the gods to reset the world, with each loop allowing Nini and his allies to relive the 8th month over and over until they get it right…or the Kegai overcome them entirely.

With one month until the world ends, how will you spend each day?"
