Cities: Skylines Snowfall, the winter-themed expansion for the popular city builder released last year by Finnish developer Colossal Order, finally got a release date!

The new expansion will add a ton of new features to the game, both cosmetic as well as functional. Among the list of changes are dynamic weather that give your city a little extra shine, a new tram system that adds yet another layer to the game's public transport system, and a bunch of winter-themed parks. In addition to this, players can take on the unforgiving cold on a new snow-covered winter map.  In addition to this, players can take on the unforgiving cold on a new snow-covered winter map. This map will feature a new temperature system players will need to adapt to the cold as they make sure their roads are free of snow and they have enough electricity sources to keep the central heating on.

Publisher Paradox Interactive has announced that you can try your hand at creating a winter wonderland on the 18th of February, which is a mere 15 days away! The expansion will be available for both OSX and Windows platforms and will cost you $12.99, which is $2 cheaper than the After Dark expansion released last year.

If you want to know more about the upcoming features (some of which will become available to everyone who owns the base game) you can check out the ongoing developer commentary series on their official forums.

Quick Take

I'm really excited for this! I've been loving my time with the base game and the After Dark expansion and I will no doubt pour quite a few more hours into the game once the expansion hits. The new features will also mean that the game's modding community will have a ton of new assets and possibilities to play with so I'll be surprised if this doesn't keep me busy until the next expansion gets announced.

Are you looking forward to this expansion? Which feature are you looking forward to playing the most? Let us know in the comments!

I've been playing games since I was just barely able to walk so I might as well write about them.
