A castle-like hotel in the new Cities: Skylines Hotels & Retreats mini-expansion

Colossal Order and Paradox have unveiled a new Cities: Skylines mini-expansion for late May. Hotels & Retreats will, as the name indicates, allow you to build your own luxury resorts and accommodation. You'll have access to a wide variety of different hotel types, including city conference locations, mountain retreats, and more.

With Cities: Skylines II currently in the works, Paradox and Colossal Order are winding down new content updates for the original Cities: Skylines, bowing out with a final round of updates and DLC. Last month's Hubs & Transport update was part of that initiative, and now, the two studios have announced a brand new DLC pack in Hotels & Retreats. It'll serve as the game's final expansion.

According to Colossal Order, Hotels & Retreats will give you the chance to build "hostels, cabins, hotels, luxurious resorts" and more as you try to boost tourism for your city. Other structures, like parks, cafes, and restaurants, will "support your hotels" as well, so they'll be fully integrated into your city. You can check out the announcement trailer for Hotels & Retreats here.

The trailer gives a good idea of what kind of luxury retreats and accommodation you'll be able to build, giving your city that all-important premium feel. Five new maps are also being added for the hotels: three European-inspired maps, a tropical map, and a temperate map.

That's not all, though. Paradox and Colossal Order have also announced the next three Content Creator Packs in the Cities: Skylines "farewell tour". They are as follows.

  • Railroads of Japan by Kaminogi - adds new railroad stations, transport features, and buildings
  • Brooklyn & Queens by Prosper - adds growable buildings and props inspired by the titular neighborhoods
  • Industrial Evolution by Avanya - adds new industry elements and buildings

Cities: Skylines is available right now across PC and consoles. Hotels & Retreats launches on May 23rd as paid DLC for the game.
