Paradox and developer Colossal Order have announced more Cities: Skylines 2 delays, and this time, it's a major upcoming expansion, along with two Creator Packs, that you won't be able to play for a little longer.
Per a new Steam post, two upcoming Creator Packs for Cities: Skylines 2, namely Modern Architecture and Urban Promenades, are being pushed back to Q4 this year, while the major Bridges & Ports expansion will now launch in the second quarter of 2025.
The delays are being put into effect in order for Paradox and Colossal Order to ensure they don't "split [their] focus" and to make sure that the upcoming Asset Editor, which is "one of the most crucial remaining features" for modding, doesn't lose momentum.
The two studios also say the delays will help them "ensure the community is satisfied with the state of the game", which is an ongoing concern for a game that launched with a number of issues, some of which it's still arguably struggling to fix.
As regards other areas that Colossal Order is working on, the studio says it still has nothing new to share about the long-delayed Cities: Skylines 2 PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions, but that work on those versions continues. A new release window will be shared "as soon as we have one", the studio says.
Pressing gameplay issues for Colossal Order include hotels and tourism; the studio says it "sees" players' "frustrations" with this issue, and that it's the "top gameplay issue we are currently investigating".
Of course, work also continues on fixing bugs and performance issues with Cities: Skylines 2, and Colossal Order also says it's working on ways to make the game's difficulty a little more balanced across the board.
You can check out Cities: Skylines 2 right now on PC via either Steam or the Microsoft Store, and versions for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S are, as far as we know, still in development. The game is also available as part of a Game Pass subscription.
