Blissed-out life sim Hokko Life is heading to Early Access next month. You'll be able to move to the town of Hokko, design your very own new life, and start getting to know the residents on June 2nd, so get ready to leave all your cares behind.
What is Hokko Life?
Developer Wonderscope describes Hokko Life as a game in which you can customize "everything from the clothing [you] wear to the furniture in the houses". It bears more than a passing resemblance to Animal Crossing, but the focus is much more on making everything in Hokko look and feels just as you want it to. You'll be able to tweak shapes, colors, and materials, so your version of Hokko is going to look totally different from someone else's. You can check out the Early Access launch trailer right here.
Of course, there's also plenty of other stuff to do besides hammering away in the workshop. You can wander the town of Hokko, talk to the townsfolk, and see what you can find while you explore all of the town's nooks and crannies. As you might expect, there's a bug-catching minigame in which you can grab your net and collect the creepy crawlies you see. When you're back in the workshop, after you've finished a design, you'll be able to share it with your friends and other players around the world. This project has a pretty impressive scope considering it's a one-man development effort.
What will be included in the Hokko Life Early Access build?
Per the game's Steam page, Wonderscope intends Hokko Life to be in Early Access "until it is deemed to be a complete and solid experience". Right now, the game will include all major base gameplay elements; you'll be able to collect items, befriend villagers, and design and decorate your town. Wonderscope says "prices and unlocks stages can be a little unbalanced" right now, and that the intro and tutorial are in the early stages of development. However, as befits an Early Access game, these features will be updated as they're completed.
You can add Hokko Life to your wishlist on Steam right now. While we don't yet know how much the game will cost, Wonderscope says it'll be offered at an initial discounted price if you pick it up on Early Access. The dev also intends to include the community during the development process, so if you pick it up early, you'll be given the chance to take part in shaping the game as it goes. We'll be watching this one with excitement.
